Real Help Paying for Emergency Care
Nobody plans for an ER visit, and the bill that shows up afterward can be its own kind of emergency. We’d rather you focus on getting better than on how you’re going to pay for it, so we built a few different ways to make that part easier: a real financial assistance program for insured patients, a straightforward discount for anyone paying out of pocket, and payment plans if you just need more time.
For insured patients whose out-of-pocket responsibility is more than they can manage. Discounts up to 100% based on income.
No insurance? We automatically apply a discounted fee schedule for uninsured and self-pay patients, no application needed.
Spread your bill out over time instead of paying it all at once, through flexible in-house payment plans.
Having insurance doesn’t always mean an ER bill is affordable. High co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance can leave you owing hundreds or thousands of dollars even after your plan pays its share. Our Care Relief Program exists for exactly that situation: it’s financial assistance for privately insured patients whose out-of-pocket responsibility is more than they can reasonably cover, based on household income and family size. Approved patients can see their responsibility reduced by anywhere from 80% up to a full 100%, and once approved, that assistance can stay in place for up to 12 months.
The majority of applicants who apply for Care Relief are approved for some level of assistance.
Depending on your household size and income, your discount could cover your entire responsibility.
Every application is reviewed individually, so your discount reflects your real financial situation.
Unlike some programs that only take applications online, ours is a paper application, on purpose. Email CareRelief@ArlingtonER.com or ask about it at check-in, fill out the form with your household income and family size, and we’ll review it and let you know where you land. There’s no cost to apply, and applying doesn’t affect the emergency care you receive either way.
We'll estimate your eligibility by the size of your household.
Your eligibility is based on a few factors, including your household size and income. Our estimator uses these details to show which discount tier you're most likely to fall into.
Many patients across a wide range of income levels qualify for at least some level of assistance.
Below is an estimate of what you might be able to save with the Care Relief Program.*
*Demonstrated financial standing required for financial assistance. This estimate does not guarantee qualification; final approval is based on your completed application.
Arlington ER reserves the right at any time to modify or cancel any of the above options.
If you’re uninsured, we don’t bill you at our full charge rates. As a courtesy, Arlington ER applies a discounted fee schedule to self-pay patients, based on the acuity of your visit and the level of service you needed. There’s no separate form for this one; it’s applied automatically to your bill.
Some bills just need more time, not a discount. If that’s your situation, we offer in-house payment plans built for exactly this: an unplanned medical visit that’s easier to manage over several payments than all at once. Ask our billing team about setting up a schedule that fits your budget. We also accept cash, credit cards, checks, and ACH payments, if you’d rather handle it that way.
